Right now, families in Odisha, India are facing a devastating emergency.

Relentless rains and flooding have swept through communities, destroying homes, disrupting roads and leaving families struggling to meet the most basic human need: food.

This flood season has already taken lives. Families have lost homes, belongings, crops and livelihoods. Many are living day to day, waiting for the water to recede and wondering how they will feed their children.

And yet, much of their suffering remains unseen by the rest of the world.

A Disaster Few People Are Hearing About

The catastrophic flooding in Nepal has captured international attention, bringing extensive media coverage, emergency teams and humanitarian assistance from around the world.

We are deeply grateful that the people of Nepal are receiving help.

But just across the region, families in Odisha are also suffering—and many of the remote villages we serve receive very little international attention.

These are rural communities where poverty is deep and resources are scarce. Many families we serve are tribal or come from communities that have historically experienced social stigma, caste-based exclusion and NO access to education and opportunity.

When disaster strikes remote villages like these, help does not always reach every family quickly.
