🦋 325 Bags of Hope: Gratitude in the Midst of Devastation

To our extraordinary Butterfly Effect Global donors: thank you.

Because of your generosity, 325 bags of food rations were distributed to desperate tribal families in Odisha, India, whose lives have been devastated by catastrophic flooding.

In some areas, floodwaters rose as high as 10 feet, sweeping away homes, personal belongings, and, heartbreakingly, precious family members. Families who already live with very little suddenly found themselves with almost nothing.

In these remote tribal communities, outside assistance is extremely limited. For many of the families we serve, Butterfly Effect Global and our local team are among the few people able to reach them directly.

And you showed them that they are not forgotten.

For just $25, one bag of food rations can help feed a family of five for approximately one month—giving them precious time to survive, regroup, and begin rebuilding their lives.

Our Country Manager, Thabir Bagh, personally helped distribute these 325 bags to families in need. He walked through contaminated floodwater and spent long hours outside in the rain to make sure the food reached the people who needed it most.

Sadly, shortly after the distribution, Thabir became ill. We are deeply concerned for his well-being and ask everyone in our Butterfly Effect family to please hold Thabir in your prayers for strength, healing, and a full recovery.

This is what Humanity Helping Humanity looks like.

A donor gives $25.
A bag of food reaches a family.
Children are fed.
Parents are given hope.
A village knows someone cares.

To every person who donated, prayed, shared our message, or helped make this distribution possible: thank you for being part of this ripple of compassion.

All Together, 525 bags became far more than food.

It became an out pouring of Love!

The Butterfly is spreading it’s wing into Africa

And now, another beautiful ripple is beginning.

Next week, Butterfly Effect Global is heading to Kenya, where we will inaugurate our very first African Blessing Well in Kiltamany Village, a remote Samburu community.

This well has been lovingly donated by Butterfly Effect Global board member Charlotte Roberts and her husband, Arthur Ambrush.

Charlotte is a nurse with Scripps Health, and during an earlier trip to Kenya with John, she met a young Samburu man named Clement, on a medical mission. That meeting became the beginning of another extraordinary story.

Clement grew up in Kiltamany Village and is now attending nursing school with Charlotte's support. His dream reaches far beyond earning a degree. He hopes to return to the village where he was raised and one day build a medical center in Kiltamany, bringing healthcare closer to a community where access to medical services can be extremely limited.

First, clean water.

Then, education.

And one day, perhaps, a medical center serving generations of Samburu families.

This is the Butterfly Effect.

And Then the Butterfly Blessing Flies to Uganda

From Kenya, the butterfly continues its journey to Uganda, carrying several more expressions of compassion, dignity, and opportunity.

Children from the Karamojong community will receive 100 handmade outfits through our Dress a Child Around the World project.

Each outfit carries a simple message:

You matter.
You are seen.
You are worthy of love and care.

We will also visit a refugee community, where food rations generously donated by Nicole Robinson

will be distributed to families in need. In a place where putting food on the table can be an everyday struggle, these rations offer something immediate and essential: nourishment, relief, and the knowledge that someone across the world cares.

But our vision goes beyond meeting today's needs.

While in Uganda, John will also help facilitate microfinance loans generously funded by Doris Anderson. These small loans are designed to give individuals an opportunity to create income, build a small business, and begin moving toward greater independence and self-sufficiency.

This is where charity begins to become empowerment.

Food can help a family through today.
Clothing can restore dignity.
A microfinance loan can help someone begin building tomorrow.

And that is the heart of Butterfly Effect Global.

From emergency food relief in India,
to clean water and the dream of future healthcare in Kenya,
to clothing, food, and economic opportunity in Uganda—

the butterfly keeps flying.

One act of kindness becomes another.
One person believes in another.
One ripple reaches another shore.

And together, those ripples become a wave.

The butterfly is spreading its wings—and love is leading the way.

And Charlotte’s generous heart continues to reach across borders

As a nurse, Charlotte has a special place in her heart for pregnant women living in the refugee community, recognizing how vulnerable mothers can be during pregnancy when food, clothing, comfort, and basic necessities are uncertain.

Charlotte has generously provided beautiful kitenge wraps and food rations for these expectant mothers, helping make sure they feel cared for and supported during this especially sensitive time in their lives.

For a mother preparing to welcome a child under difficult circumstances, a colorful wrap, nourishing food, and the knowledge that someone cares can mean so much.

It says:

You are not alone.
Your baby matters.
Your well-being matters.

To every Butterfly Effect Global donor who responded so quickly to this emergency

Thank you.

Thank you for trusting us.

Thank you for caring about people you may never meet.

Thank you for recognizing that geography, nationality, religion, caste, and circumstance do not separate the human heart.

Your generosity traveled thousands of miles and became food, dignity, compassion, and love in action.

Dancing a Prayer for Humanity

This Sunday, I also invite you to join us at Seaside Center for Spiritual Living for the Dances of Universal Peace.

The Dances of Universal Peace are a beautiful spiritual practice of simple sacred songs, movement, and prayer drawn from the world’s spiritual traditions.

We gather in a circle.

We sing.

We move together.

And we offer our practice as a prayer for peace and for our human family.

After witnessing what is happening in India and throughout our world, I can think of no more meaningful time to gather together in prayer for humanity.

Join me on Wednesday, October 7 at Seaside Center for Spiritual Living as I share:

✨ From Ego to Essence ✨
Shining the light on the truth of who you came here to be.

Together, we’ll explore what happens when we move beyond the voice of the ego and reconnect with the deeper truth, wisdom, and Divine essence within us.

I’d love to see you there. 💛
