John Barnard Honors his Mother

In honor of his beloved mother, Lora Mae Barnard, John Barnard dedicated a Blessing Well to the village of Samoguda. A woman of remarkable intellect and quiet strength, she was one of just three women in her law school class at the University of Colorado—a true trailblazer ahead of her time. Her legacy of courage, strength, and resilience now lives on through the gift of clean water. May her love continue to flow in Samoguda Village, nourishing generations to come.

This well was beautifully decorated in honor of John’s beloved mother and has already begun transforming lives. Before this gift, villagers were drinking water from a local pond—the same water where buffalo bathe, where clothes are washed, and where babies are bathed. Tragically, this contaminated water often leads to life-threatening waterborne diseases like typhoid. Many children lose their parents, and parents lose their children—simply because they lack access to clean water.
