Hope, Healing & Humanity: A Heartfelt Update from the Leprosy Colonies in Odisha

Dearest Friends,

This month, our beautiful souls in the two leprosy colonies of Odisha, India received their monthly food rations—an essential lifeline that brings nourishment, dignity, and the reminder that they are not forgotten. Thanks to generous donors, we were also able to deliver 17 brand-new beds, helping many move off the cold, damp ground and onto a clean, comfortable place to rest.

These colonies previously had only 5 usable beds.

68 more beds are still needed to ensure that no one is left sleeping on the bare floor, vulnerable to rats, snakes, and biting insects. For individuals living with leprosy—who, like those with diabetes, often lose sensation in their limbs—open wounds can go unnoticed, leading to infection and further suffering.

But there is good news: next month, we begin their monthly medication program—a critical step toward halting the progression of this curable disease and bringing hope and healing to the community.

There are 90 individuals between the two colonies. I consider them our adopted children, with your help, I am committed to keeping them safe, warm, and cared for.

Here’s how you can be part of this life-changing work:

  • 🛏️ A new bed costs just $150

  • 🍛 Monthly food costs $7 per person

  • 💊 Monthly medication costs $6 per person
